How to mount a device in Linux

In this example the command ls /dev/sd* was used to view all devices in the system. /dev/sdb1 is an external drive in the primary partition. To mount this as an example, we used the command: mount /dev/sdb1 /mountdir (this creates a folder called mountdir),

Next, once the device has been mounted, we ran the command ls /mountdir. Now notice that the (device) /dev/sdb1 is now accessible.
