Block Unwanted Websites Using Domains or Keywords

Protecting our family especially our kids from bad influences over the internet is tough. Quick and easy instructions on how to block unwanted websites using URLs or keywords. This way you can block porn websites or any inappropriate web pages from your computers at home. 

You need to know how to access your home router. Below are the most common routers being used: Linksys, Netgear and Sonicwall.

For internet users you can easily set this up:

If there are specific websites that you want to explicitly block or allow, follow these steps. This setting overrides any ratings the site may have.
  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Content tab, and then, under Content Advisor, click Settings If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  4. In the Supervisor Password Required dialog box, type your password, and then click OK.
  5. Click the Approved Sites tab.
  6. Under Allow this website, type the URL for the site you want to allow or block, and then select Always or Never to allow or block the website.
  7. Click Apply to save the settings, and then click OK.
If you're using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, just locate any advanced settings and the instruction should be similar to this one.
